Inheritance dispute believed to be motive behind woman’s murder in Teluk Intan

A DISPUTE over family inheritance is believed to be the motive behind the murder of a 62-year-old woman, whose body was found in a vehicle abandoned after a violent attack on a police constable in Ipoh earlier this month.

Perak Police Chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin confirmed that all nine individuals arrested thus far are related and are believed to be connected to the alleged motive. However, full clarity on the case hinges on the arrest of the main suspect, who is thought to have fled abroad using an illegal route.

“It is indeed an inheritance dispute. All nine individuals previously arrested are family members. At present, our focus is on tracing the primary suspect, the driver of the vehicle,” Noor Hisam told reporters at the *Ter.. Paling Pahlawan Challenge* programme organised by the Hilir Perak district police at Padang Speedy.

“He holds the key to the entire incident. We are still investigating whether he is, in fact, the mastermind behind the woman’s murder. Immigration data shows no record of him exiting the country, so we suspect he may have used a ‘rat route’,” he added.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 1.15am on 7 September, saw Constable Aziq Zulfikri Abdul Rajak, 26, seriously injured after being shot and stabbed while attempting to stop a suspicious vehicle in Taman Desa Pakatan near Simpang Pulai, Ipoh.

The attacker then fled the scene with the police officer’s firearm, abandoning a Toyota Avanza in which the woman’s body was found on the rear seat.

Noor Hisam confirmed that the police constable remains under treatment at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB), though his condition is reported as stable.

The firearm taken during the attack has yet to be recovered, and efforts to locate the fugitive suspect are ongoing. - September 21, 2025
