RANAU: A 41-year-old local had to be carried down from Mount Kinabalu after falling and injuring both shoulders on Wednesday.

Ranau Fire and Rescue Station Chief Ridwan Mohd Taib said the incident happened at Km 7.2 of the Mount Kinabalu climbing trail at 7.50am.

Upon receiving the emergency call about the incident through the Station Line at 7.58am, a group of six Mountain Search and Rescue Team (Mosar) led by Operation Commander Feliks Taimin was at the scene.

“When we arrived at the location located about 1km from the Mosar post, there was a climber who had fallen while descending from Mount Kinabalu.

“We found that the victim was unable to stand or move both arms and initial treatment,” he said.

Ridwan said the victim was carried down using a Robinson Stretcher with the help of several mountain guides to Laban Rata and then to Timpohon Gate.
