Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah and Labuan Prisons Department, in collaboration with the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) Sabah, has launched an innovative arts education programme in prisons, aiming to foster cultural awareness, unity and national development.
This innovative approach is in line with the Government’s commitment to rehabilitation through arts and culture, providing prospects with both creative skills and therapeutic outlets.
“Through arts and culture, we can increase awareness of the diverse cultural heritage in our country,” said Sabah and Labuan Prisons Director Nora Musa at the launch of the Cultural Arts Guidance Centre Programme (PuBSB) at the Kota Kinabalu Women’s Prison, here, Thursday.
“This initiative aligns with the Government’s aim to preserve and sustain cultural arts, with a focus on engaging the younger generation to ensure cultural transmission to future generations,” she added.
