Kota Kinabalu: The inquest into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir will continue as scheduled despite the coming State Election (PRN).

Counsel Mohd Sharulnizam Mohd Salleh, responding to media queries about the possibility of rescheduling the proceedings due to the election, said no formal request to postpone had been made so far.

“So far, the inquest is proceeding as usual. No application for rescheduling has been submitted. Once the important dates for the PRN are announced, we may consider making the necessary applications depending on the timing,” he said.

Mohd Sharulnizam also acknowledged that several parties involved in the inquest, including legal representatives, might be occupied with election-related duties.

“I believe many parties will be involved in ensuring the state election runs smoothly. The coroner has also mentioned that once the election dates are confirmed, lawyers can submit applications and discussions will be held on how to manage the inquest proceedings,” he said.
