
Kota Kinabalu: Efforts to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Sabah received a boost with the accreditation of Institut Latihan Teknik dan Perdagangan (ILTP) to conduct the Category A1 Electrical Competency Programme.
The accreditation was granted by the Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS) following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between both parties on April 22.
AdvertisementECoS Chief Executive Officer Datuk Abdul Nasser Abdul Wahid said the move reflects the state government’s commitment to producing competitive local skilled talent.
“The accreditation of the A1 Electrical Competency Programme at ILTP demonstrates our serious effort to develop a homegrown workforce capable of meeting Sabah’s growing energy sector needs,” he said.
The Certificate of Accreditation was formally handed over by him during a ceremony witnessed by the State Assistant Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Harun Durabi.
He also presented the appointment letter for the Co-Chairperson of the ECoS Adopted TVET Institution Steering Committee.

ECoS further announced sponsorship to upgrade ILTP’s Gas Fitter Facility as part of its infrastructure support.

“We are committed to ensuring Sabah’s TVET system continues to evolve and remains relevant to real industry demands,” he said.
ECoS will work closely with institutions, agencies, and industry to align syllabi, improve accreditation and upgrade facilities.
Such initiatives are expected to build a skilled, future-ready local workforce aligned with Sabah’s development goals.
