Kota Kinabalu: The 100MW Fast Track Interim Power Generation Project, awarded to Dynac JV Sdn Bhd is set for commissioning this year and will contribute 98MW of capacity to meet the west coast’s growing power demand and enhance grid stability.

The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sabah branch was recently given first-hand exposure to the large-scale power generation technology and construction methodology during a technical site visit.

The delegation, led by Exco Member Leona Ng, included members from the Young Engineers Section and Women Engineers Section.

They were hosted by Sabah Electricity’s Transmission Major Project Head Faizal Japar, which manages the strategic project.

Dynac’s Chief Operation Officer, Sharizal MD Sidek, briefed the delegation on the open cycle dual fuel power plant, which uses highly efficient aero-derivative gas turbines.

He also shared how the project team is addressing site challenges to meet the fast-track completion timeline.

The IEM Sabah commended both Sabah Electricity and Dynac for their commitment to delivering the project while developing local engineering talent in the specialised power generation industry.
