PUTRAJAYA, Jan 30 - The government will take strict action against any civil servant found guilty of abusing power or engaging in corruption, including top management officials, said Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.
Following recent arrests and investigations related to abuse of power, he said the public service will fully cooperate with authorities to ensure probes are thorough and transparent.
“The public service will not compromise in taking action against any civil servant in accordance with the law if they are found guilty,” Shamsul Azri said, stressing that integrity must remain the cornerstone of effective public service.
He added that rejecting corruption and misconduct is essential to protect the credibility of the civil service and maintain public trust in Malaysia’s core institutions.
Over the past year, enforcement agencies including the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) have conducted several high-profile operations involving senior officers, including cases related to financial management, procurement, and abuse of power.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has repeatedly stressed that firm action, regardless of rank, is key to restoring public and investor confidence.
