49 EU lawmakers urge stronger action after Israeli navy intercepts Gaza flotilla, with over 50,000 petitions submitted worldwide.

SEPANG: International support for the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 humanitarian aid mission to Gaza is gaining significant momentum, with 49 European Union (EU) Members of Parliament reportedly urging for stricter action following the interception of the flotilla by the Israeli regime’s navy (IOF).

Director-General of the Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC), Datuk Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby, said that his team received reports that the group of EU lawmakers had issued a statement demanding the EU President take more drastic measures regarding the actions taken against the humanitarian activists.

“The world is rising up. Just a moment ago, I received a report that 49 EU Members of Parliament have issued a statement urging the European Union President to take more drastic action,” he said during a press conference here today.

He added that they were also informed that more than 50,000 petitions from around the globe have been sent to Foreign Ministers of various countries, serving as international pressure to ensure the issue is given urgent attention.

According to him, this development shows that the international community is becoming increasingly vocal in showing solidarity for Gaza.

“This demonstrates that we are now in the phase of ‘breaking the silence,’ and I believe we are indirectly also in the phase of ‘breaking the siege,” he said.

Sani Araby also called on the Malaysian government to continue demanding the release of the 350 GSF humanitarian activists, including 25 Malaysians, who were unlawfully abducted in international waters.

“The Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) has informed that he is in communication and cooperating closely with leaders of European nations, including Turkiye, Spain, and others, to ensure all activists detained by the Zionist regime are released immediately through concerted diplomatic efforts,” he said.

He emphasised that the SNCC firmly maintains that all activists must be protected from any form of abuse, persecution, or violation of human rights.

They must not face any inhumane treatment simply for bringing the voice of peace and humanitarian aid to the people of Palestine.
