International survey shows widespread loss of confidence in Trump’s world leadership

  • A Pew Research Center poll of over 42,000 people in 36 countries revealed a significant collapse in international trust in the US and confidence in Donald Trump's foreign policy during his second term.
  • The survey found that 76 percent of adults had no confidence in Trump's leadership on the world stage, while only 23 percent expressed confidence.
  • Trump received poor marks for his handling of key foreign policy issues, including tariffs, Gaza, Iran, Greenland, and the Russia-Ukraine war, with no country showing more positive attitudes towards him.
  • Overall, 57 percent of those polled held an unfavorable view of the US, and trust in the US as a reliable partner declined steeply in many countries, including traditional allies like the UK and Canada, since 2022.
  • The White House, in response, stated that Trump believes he has restored America's global standing while ensuring the US is not taken advantage of by its allies.
