  • The local administration issued a formal show-cause notice to Dr Bordoloi, citing serious concerns about the safety and well-being of mothers and newborns, and inadequately maintained medical records.
  • The notice demanded detailed reports for each case, including information on sterilisation procedures, foetal distress, newborn care, and the roles of assisting medical staff.
  • Dr Bordoloi defended his actions, stating that handling multiple surgeries quickly is not unusual in India’s busy public hospitals and that all necessary medical procedures were followed.
  • He confirmed that 19 of the 21 mothers and newborns had been discharged in stable condition, with two remaining hospitalised, and suggested the complaint might have been personal.
