An investigation into the cause of an incident where a Lufthansa plane collapsed on Thursday while parked at a gate at Frankfurt Airport continues.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner was set to be moved to a maintenance hangar late on Thursday for further examination before repairs begin, a Lufthansa spokesman said.
Meanwhile, the injured members of the 13-strong crew who had been on board when the nose landing gear collapsed before passenger boarding had been released from hospital, the German carrier said. All other crew members were cared for and their return journeys arranged.
The incident occurred at around 12:45 pm (1045 GMT) while the aircraft was parked at gate position A15 at Frankfurt Airport. The plane, flight number LH450, had been bound for Los Angeles.
"While parked, the aircraft's nose landing gear unexpectedly collapsed," Lufthansa stated. Passengers had been waiting to board.
Lufthansa currently operates 17 Dreamliners and received its first Boeing 787-9 in 2022. The airline plans to expand the fleet further in the coming years.
