Two investigation papers (IPs) focusing on issues related to race, religion, and royalty (3R) involving Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang have been handed over to the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) for further action.

The Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, revealed that the IP regarding Dr. Mahathir was submitted to the AGC on September 5, while the IP concerning Abdul Hadi was submitted recently. Razarudin stressed that the police will not hesitate to take strict measures against individuals who bring up 3R matters, particularly those involving royal institutions. He emphasized that disrespecting the nine Malay Rulers will not be tolerated. Additionally, he expressed concerns that issues relating to race and religion can cause division among the diverse Malaysian population.

Responding to queries about potential political interference in the investigations concerning the 3R issues, Razarudin dismissed the claims as baseless. He clarified that the police target not only politicians but anyone who manipulates 3R matters. He noted that previous governments, including the one led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, had also emphasized the importance of not toying with 3R issues. Razarudin further mentioned that the government's stance remains consistent, regardless of the ruling party in power.

The authorities are determined to prevent 3R issues from disrupting the country's stability. He assured that their actions were not guided by external instructions or coercion but rather driven by their commitment to maintaining social harmony. Regarding the need to enhance the existing special unit dedicated to 3R, Razarudin stated that it is currently unnecessary. The current task force consisting of 32 officers is considered adequate,

with investigations usually concluded within seven days. Although the IP papers have been submitted to the AGC, they anticipate receiving suggestions and additional details, such as forensic data, from the AGC for a more comprehensive investigation. In a separate development, it was announced that the police would record a statement from former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin regarding the fatwa fiasco on September 12, a day later than initially scheduled. Muhyiddin requested the change due to prior commitments that he needed to attend to.
