Key investment and foreign worker issues were discussed at MITI’s high-level meeting with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to improve policy implementation.

KUALA LUMPUR: Investment inflows into Malaysia were a central topic at a high-level meeting between the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said discussions also covered foreign investments received and domestic requirements for foreign worker recruitment.

The meeting aimed to convey emerging issues needing senior management’s attention, including substantive matters requiring the Prime Minister’s consideration.

“We raised several important matters which require the Prime Minister’s attention to enable policies to be implemented more effectively,” Johari told reporters after the meeting.

He noted that while MITI’s policies are formulated and implemented, several areas can be improved.

Also present were Deputy Minister Sim Tze Tzin, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and MITI Secretary-General Datuk Hairil Yahri Yaacob.
