IOI CITY MALL is encouraging the public to take practical steps towards environmental sustainability through its Share2Care ESG Campaign 2026, featuring recycling initiatives, educational activities, creative reuse projects and coastal conservation programmes.
Running from July 17 to Sept 30, the campaign carries the theme “IOI Connects to Earth – From Awareness to Action”, with activities involving shoppers, tenants, students, CLUB IOI members, strategic partners and the wider community.
IOI City Mall General Manager – Complex, Wilfred Wong, said the campaign was aimed at bringing environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives closer to the community.
“Share2Care is our way of bringing ESG closer to the community. This year, through the theme ‘IOI Connects to Earth – From Awareness to Action’, we want to encourage people to move from simply knowing about sustainability to taking small but meaningful actions.
“When we work together, these small actions can create a bigger impact,” he said.
Among the campaign’s initiatives is an ESG Showcase Area, developed through a collaboration between INTI College students and IOI City Mall’s Visual Merchandising team.
The showcase features sustainability-themed sculptures and visual displays made from reused materials, demonstrating how discarded items can be transformed into creative works.
The campaign also features ESG Workshops, offering families and children hands-on activities aimed at promoting waste reduction, material reuse and environmental responsibility.
Through the Recycle & Earn campaign, participating tenants are also encouraging shoppers to incorporate recycling into their everyday shopping experience.
Another initiative, the Trash to Treasure Recycle Art Contest, invites students, families and artists to transform recyclable and reusable materials into artworks based on an ocean-inspired theme.
A key highlight is “Ocean Symphony”, a large-scale ocean-themed artwork created using nearly 18,000 collected bottle caps.
The bottle caps were collected with support from Spritzer, Majlis Perbandaran Sepang (MPSepang), KDEB Waste Management, GSC, Food Junction and IOI City Mall shoppers, with collection points placed at selected locations within the mall.
The artwork aims to demonstrate how everyday waste can be given a second life through creativity and community participation.
IOI City Mall said the completion and launch of “Ocean Symphony” would also recognise the contributions of sponsors, partners, tenants, students and shoppers involved in the project.
The campaign extends beyond the mall through the IOI Ocean Heroes programme, which includes beach-cleaning activities at Pantai Kelanang, Banting, organised in collaboration with Reef Check Malaysia and Unique Sunday.
The beach-cleaning sessions are scheduled for Sept 24 and 27, with 120 participants expected to take part each day.
Participants, including partners, volunteers and members of the community, will take part in coastal conservation activities while learning about the impact of waste on marine ecosystems.
IOI City Mall said the initiative was intended to demonstrate that ESG efforts should go beyond awareness and encourage direct participation and action.
The Share2Care campaign will run until Sept 30, with activities covering sustainability education, recycling, creative reuse, bottle-cap collection, community engagement and coastal conservation.
