And it’s here – the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable phone, has launched. After selling out within minutes of the phone going live, customers have been seen queuing up outside Apple Stores across the country since 5am this morning.
“The pre-order demand for iPhone Duo, our first foldable iPhone, has been nothing short of extraordinary,” Apple said in a statement ahead of launch. “We are working hard to get this revolutionary new product into customers’ hands as quickly as possible.”

“We do have a limited amount of stock expected in mid-November, but to secure your place in the queue, we recommend ordering through Carphone Warehouse, where you’ll receive the latest information on expected delivery dates,” David Sidebottom, senior buyer at Currys plc, told The Independent.
“Alternatively, you can visit your local Currys store to experience these fantastic products in person and speak to one of our Tech Experts, who can also provide the most up-to-date advice on availability and delivery timelines.”

Carphone Warehouse seems to have removed its best iPhone Duo deal – but I’ve found a way to still get it
10:45 , Alex LeeEarlier this week, Carphone Warehouse dropped the best iPhone Duo deal out of all the mobile carriers. It was offering the iPhone Duo for £85.99 per month with £129 up-front, coming with 100GB of data on a 24-month iD Mobile contract.
The deal had vanished this morning. But there’s still a way to get it through a different link.
The deal works out to £2,192.76 over 24 months before the scheduled price rises. That’s about £221 more than the cost of buying the iPhone Duo on its own, meaning you’re essentially paying just £9.20 per month for 100GB of data.
There is one catch, though. Carphone Warehouse is currently estimating delivery by 7 January 2027, so you’ll have to wait before getting your hans on the phone.

Hard credit checks can temporarily affect your credit score. No doubt frustrating for those who have had their pre-orders cancelled.

Tesco Mobile has now responded to my request for comment, but it has not confirmed any issues on the carrier’s side with regard to pre-orders.
“We’re not aware of any issues affecting orders at this time. These cases appear to be the result of payments not being successfully completed, which can happen if there are insufficient funds available or if the payment isn’t authorised within the required timeframe,” a Tesco Mobile spokesperson said. “Where this happens, the order is automatically cancelled and the device reservation is released. We appreciate this may be disappointing for customers affected.”
Obviously, this doesn’t quite add up with the experiences several readers have shared with me. I have asked Tesco Mobile for further clarification.

10:01 , Alex LeeIt’s been a bit of a nightmare launch for some customers.
Two readers this morning have got in touch to tell me that most of the configurations of the iPhone Duo had sold out at Giffgaff by 8am. Freemans and Tesco Mobile were also seen cancelling customers’ orders yesterday morning when they went to pay, despite pre-ordering on launch day.
And some customers are reporting that EE hasn’t sent out any dispatch notices or updated tracking regarding their iPhone Duo pre-order, which should be arriving today. There’s a long Reddit thread regarding issues with EE.

Tesco Mobile has been cancelling iPhone Duo pre-orders this morning
Thursday 22 October 2026 11:42 , Alex LeeIt’s not the only report I’ve received today. Another reader has also been in touch to say that Tesco Mobile has been cancelling iPhone Duo pre-orders.
The mobile network arm of the supermarket giant was one of the first retailers to go live with pre-orders last Friday, promising delivery on launch day (23 October). But with less than 24 hours to go, some customers are reporting that their orders have been cancelled, despite initially receiving confirmation emails.
One reader told me they’d received an email this morning saying their iPhone Duo was ready for delivery, only for their order to be cancelled after they signed the credit agreement and made their first payment.
Others on Reddit have reported similar problems. One customer said they’d received their pre-order confirmation, signed their credit agreement and completed their payment, only to be told that their payment hadn’t gone through and their contract had been cancelled.
Another Reddit user claimed Tesco Mobile had told them it didn’t have enough stock to fulfil all its pre-orders. A separate customer said they’d been advised not to sign their credit agreement straight away or risk having their order cancelled.
It’s unclear how widespread the cancellations are or whether stock shortages are to blame. My speculation is that Tesco Mobile sold more iPhone Duo pre-orders than it was allocated. I’ve contacted Tesco Mobile for comment and will update yoou when I hear back.

Currys announces when it'll restock the iPhone Duo

“During the pre-order period, we’ve seen unprecedented demand for these products. Both Currys and Carphone Warehouse will have sold through their pre-order allocation before the end of this week,” David Sidebottom, senior buyer at Currys plc, told The Independent. He added that more stock is expected next month.

It’s not particularly generous on data compared with Vodafone or EE, but it’s cheaper. You can also get up to six months of Disney+ or another Extra included in the deal, plus O2 Priority perks and access to O2 Satellite at no extra cost.

I’ve just checked Apple’s website, and the £1,999 256GB iPhone Duo in black is showing a shipping date of 22 January 2027. Yes, January. That’s three whole months away.
I don’t know if there’s a huge wave of demand, or Apple just didn’t make enough iPhone Duos, but you won’t be getting one before Christmas if you opt for the 256GB model at least.

The iPhone Duo costs £73.57 per month with 25GB of data and a £30 up-front cost on a 48-month contract. If you want unlimited data, it’ll cost you £76.57 per month, again over 48 months.
You can get up to £624 when you trade in an eligible phone, and BT broadband customers can also get 30 per cent off selected plans.
All plans include access to EE’s 5G+ network, unlimited calls and texts. You can also gift unused data to family members.
Three has some great trade-in valuations if you choose the unlimited plan

The iPhone Duo costs £74.44 per month with 30GB of data and a £100 up-front cost on a 36-month contract.
If you want unlimited data, it’ll cost you £83.44 per month. It does include roaming in 49 European destinations, however, and an extended warranty.
Sky's cheapest iPhone Duo pre-order deal comes with 1GB of data and costs £48 per month

The cheapest iPhone Duo deal at Sky Mobile costs £48 per month with 1GB of data and a £12 up-front cost.
For £61 per month, you can get a much more generous 75GB of data.
Both contracts are long, mind, with the contract lasting 48 months, though you have the option to upgrade after 36 months.
You can, of course, lower the cost even further by trading in your current handset. You can get up to ££535 by trading in an iPhone 17 Pro Max.
One perk with Sky Mobile is that you can roll unused data into a Sky Piggybank, change your data plan whenever you like and stream on Sky Go and Sky Sports without using your data.

Apple’s first-ever foldable iPhone features a 7.6in inner display, a 5.4in outer screen, the A20 Pro chip, two 48MP rear cameras and up to 44 hours of video playback. Apple’s also added split-screen multitasking to the iPhone for the first time.

What iPhone Duo pre-order deals can we expect to see?

That said, carriers will be launching pre-order deals, bundling the iPhone Duo with data packages and carrier perks, including discounts on your monthly payment or boosted trade-in values.
And while it’s a little tricky to predict the kind of deals we’ll see later this afternoon, given Apple’s never released a foldable we can compare previous deals to, we can look at other similarly priced foldables, such as the £1,799 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, for an idea of what to expect.
The cheapest deal for the Z Fold 8 could be found at Sky Mobile, which was offering the handset from £52 per month with 1GB of data. EE was selling the Z Fold 8 for £49.83 per month with 25GB of data on a 48-month contract. Given the iPhone Duo costs a similar amount, I’m predicting monthly prices to be around the same £50 mark.
Apple reportedly ramps up production of iPhone Duo by 30%

A new report from China’s Securities Times claims that Apple has increased production by 30 per cent in anticipation of higher demand.
According to the publication, it had initially ordered 6-7 million units to last the year, but ordered units have now increased to 10 million.
