In case you are not aware, Kelantan and Terengganu are not the only states that are hit by the flood. Perak is also experiencing the disaster, and the residents in Fair Park, Ipoh had to deal with the unpleasant situation.

The houses were submerged in floodwater as high as 1.2 meters causing the place to look like a dirty, greasy lake. The contaminated floodwater was FILLED with garbage, as seen in a video shared by Perak Press.

About 500 households were affected and according to the Director of the Fire and Rescue Department of Perak, this was the first flood in the place in 30 years.

“The residents here say that the area has never been flooded, but because the water level of the Kinta River rose and the flood barrier broke, that’s how the water came in.”

But what about the garbage?

An officer of the Ipoh City Council (MBI), Muhammad Hamzah Md Hamdan, said that initially, they were unsure of the cause of the situation, but the residents claimed that a lot of rubbish had surfaced on the day of the flood, reported Sinar Harian.

“The concession company responsible for managing the waste collection was unable to do anything on that day,” Hamzah said.

“The waste collection was scheduled on Sunday noon (December 1), but because the area started to flood, the truck could not enter, causing rubbish to start floating.”
