Coffee is a beloved beverage known for its ability to fine-tune focus and boost energy levels. And the majority of Malaysians typically include coffee as part of their daily lives.
In recent news, Ipoh white coffee, a local favorite, has earned us a spot on the list of the ‘Best Coffees in the World,’ as announced by TasteAtlas.
Ipoh white coffee coming in hot by securing the 10th place
According to TasteAtlas’ list of the Top 39 Coffees in the World, Ipoh white coffee claimed the 10th spot, outshining favorites like Vietnamese coffee, espresso, and even dalgona.
Just so you know, Ipoh white coffee isn’t really white. The name originates from its unique roasting process, where coffee beans are lightly roasted in margarine before being ground and brewed.
“The origin of this roasting style is usually associated with Hainanese migrants in Malaysia, who adapted the classic technique to create a beverage that has a milder, lightly caramelised coffee flavour.”
Greece takes the win by securing three spots in top 10
The top 39 rankings also include espresso freddo from Greece which was crowned as the first best coffee in the world, joined by two other Greek coffees in the top 10, freddo cappuccino at fourth place and frappe coffee at ninth place.
Other notable entries on the list include cafe cubano from Cuba, cafe bombon from Spain, Indian filter coffee, Turkish coffee, along with cappuccino and ristretto from Italy.
For this compilation of top coffees, a total of 3,878 ratings were collected, with 2,559 being verified as genuine.
As Malaysians, we take pride in seeing one of our national favorite coffees earning a spot in the top 39 on the list! Here’s to many more achievements in the future!
