
A 20-year-old IPTA student died after her car skidded and hit a barrier on the KL-Karak Highway, with police appealing for witnesses.
KUALA LUMPUR: A 20-year-old female student from a public higher learning institution (IPTA) was killed in a crash on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway yesterday.
Gombak deputy police chief Supt Abang Kaderi Abang Wasli said the Gombak Traffic Police Station received a report on the fatal accident at 8.44 pm.
Initial investigations indicate the victim, who was driving a Perodua Axia, is believed to have lost control of the vehicle before crashing into a concrete road barrier.
“In the incident at about 7.20 pm, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical assistant from the Selayang Hospital due to severe injuries,” he said in a statement today.
The body was subsequently sent to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Authorities have urged members of the public who witnessed the incident or have information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
