Iran on Monday closed its entire airspace after the latest military escalation with Israel, with state news agency IRNA reporting that the flight ban would remain in place until further notice and connections at all Iranian airports had been cancelled.

Previously, Iran's aviation authority had imposed a flight ban only for parts of the country. Concerns are high that the conflict with Israel could escalate again - though the Islamic Republic said, a few hours ago, that it was ending its attacks on Israel.

Iran attacked Israel on Sunday night and Israel retaliated early on Monday. In the early afternoon on Monday, Iran said it was halting its attacks.

In a statement broadcast by state radio, Iran's military leadership said the Islamic Republic had delivered a "painful response" to Israel in support of Lebanon, and announced the cessation of its military operations.
