A man found guilty of spying for foreign intelligence services, including Israel's Mossad and the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), has been executed in Iran, the Mizan judiciary news outlet reported on Monday.

He is reported to have passed on information on personnel from his employer, a satellite research institute.

Several men have been executed over recent months after being linked by the judiciary to Mossad. Others have been put to death in connection with the wave of protests that hit the country during January.

According to the organization Iran Human Rights, at least 1,639 people were executed last year, more than in any of the past 35 years.
