Iran’s president calls for end of war after Trump’s ‘economic terrorism’ threats

  • Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for an end to the conflict with the United States, telling the country’s doctors at a meeting, "It is better that we bring the war to an end now as we are in a position of power and dignity.”
  • He claimed, "The whole world acknowledges our victory and emphasises that America has attacked our schools, hospitals and infrastructure in violation of all regulations and is hated around the world."
  • His remarks come after the United States promised “the toughest sanctions in history” for Iran after failed attempt to negotiate an end to the war. Tehran accused US president Donald Trump of threatening "economic terrorism" after Trump promised to wage "Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale.”
  • Tehran has vowed to deliver a “crushing” response to the US amid the threats of economic sanctions.
  • “With preparedness across land, sea, air, air defence and cyberspace, Iran's armed forces will respond to the enemy's new threats with crushing, punishing and devastating responses,” chief of staff of Iran’s armed forces, Major General Ali Abdollahi, was quoted as saying by Iranian media.
