Iran’s education ministry reports 281 students and teachers killed in US-Israeli attacks since February, with widespread damage to educational facilities.

ISTANBUL: At least 281 students and teachers have been killed in US-Israeli attacks on Iran since last month, according to an Iranian official cited by Anadolu Ajansi.

Hossein Sadeghi, head of the Information and Public Relations Center at Iran’s Education Ministry, provided the detailed toll to the state news agency IRNA.

The figure includes 222 students, four preschool children, 48 teachers, and seven retired education staff members.

Sadeghi added that a further 185 students and education personnel have been injured in the assaults.

He detailed that the attacks have damaged 789 administrative, cultural, and educational facilities across the country.

This damage includes 700 schools, 40 administrative buildings, 30 sports facilities, five student camps, and 14 cultural and educational centres.

The US and Israel have maintained airstrikes on Iran since February 28, with the overall death toll now exceeding 1,340 people, including the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.

These retaliatory strikes have caused casualties, damaged infrastructure, and disrupted global markets and aviation.
