Iran sends direct warning to US after Trump threatens nuclear sites

  • Tehran has issued a warning that it will launch a 'powerful attack' against all US targets in the Gulf region should Donald Trump proceed with his threats against Iranian nuclear sites.
  • Donald Trump indicated that the US would 'pretty soon' renew strikes on Iran's heavily fortified 'Pickaxe Mountain' nuclear site, which is situated near the significantly damaged Natanz uranium enrichment facility.
  • Iran's military headquarters, in a statement carried by the IRGC-affiliated Fars News Agency, declared that America, its allies, and supporters would be targeted by a powerful assault from Iran's armed forces if the site is attacked.
  • The 'Pickaxe Mountain' site, known in Iran as Kuh-e Kolang Gaz La, features two deeply buried tunnel complexes that experts assess are beyond the reach of the most powerful bunker buster bombs in the US arsenal.
  • The five-month conflict between the US and Iran has resulted in a financial toll estimated at $37.5bn, with Trump’s defence secretary Pete Hegseth requesting an additional $67bn from Congress, alongside 18 American troops killed and 400 injured.
