Iran threatens Gulf data centres, energy sites as prospect of fresh US strikes grows

IRAN has threatened to strike US-linked data centres, artificial intelligence (AI) facilities and energy infrastructure across the Gulf if Washington launches fresh attacks, raising concerns that renewed hostilities could disrupt critical economic assets beyond the battlefield.

The warning comes as the United States reportedly prepares for the possibility of another military operation against Iran, with diplomatic efforts to end the conflict showing little progress.

Middle East Eye (MEE) reported that US diplomats were preparing for possible embassy evacuations, while Israeli fighter jets were conducting operational flights near Iran’s borders.

Several Arab and US officials in the region believe another attack on Iran may be imminent, according to the report.

Iran has meanwhile raised its military readiness, with Army Ground Forces Commander Brigadier-General Jahanshahi ordering unit commanders to maintain the highest level of combat preparedness.

Iranian news agency Tasnim reported on Saturday that Jahanshahi warned that negligence during wartime could have serious consequences, urging commanders to strengthen their capabilities through careful planning and continuous monitoring.

The threat to Gulf infrastructure has heightened concerns that any renewed conflict could affect energy facilities, airports and digital infrastructure underpinning regional economic activity.

US President Donald Trump has also left open the possibility of further military action against Iran as the conflict approaches its eighth month.

“We might launch another little excursion with Epic Fury,” he said in a speech in Florida on Friday.

Direct fighting between the United States and Iran has largely subsided since the two sides reached a fragile ceasefire in April. However, the threat of renewed strikes, Tehran’s military preparations and the lack of diplomatic progress continue to leave the region vulnerable to another escalation.

Any expansion of hostilities could have wider implications for Gulf security and global energy trade, particularly if critical infrastructure becomes a target. - October 25, 2026
