Iran prepares legal action against the US and Israel for damage to Isfahan’s historical monuments, with restoration work already underway on affected sites.

ISFAHAN: Iran will file international legal complaints against the United States and Israel over damage inflicted on historical sites in Isfahan province during recent attacks.

Isfahan Governor Mehdi Jamali Nejad announced the move, stating a dedicated legal team has been appointed and a case prepared for submission to international bodies.

He revealed that approximately 203 points within the historic Grand Bazaar and 28 registered historical monuments sustained damage requiring restoration.

Jamali Nejad emphasised that cultural heritage forms the pillar of a sustainable future, speaking on the occasion of the International Day for Monuments and Sites.

He confirmed that restoration work on the damaged sites has already commenced, with the goal of completing reconstruction within the remaining two years of the current administration.

The governor explained that experts have spent several days in Isfahan compiling and submitting the necessary documentation for the legal proceedings.

He expressed hope that the ongoing legal action would yield favourable results for Iran.
