Iran war briefing: Trump ‘berates Netanyahu’ in furious phone call about Israel’s Lebanon strikes

  • Donald Trump reportedly berated Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a call about fighting in Lebanon, allegedly calling him "f***ing crazy" and claiming "everybody hates Israel" due to its strikes.
  • Trump said Hezbollah had indicated a willingness to cease attacks on Israel if Israel reciprocated. Netanyahu reportedly told Trump that Israel would resume attacks on "terror" targets in Beirut if the agreed ceasefire did not hold.
  • Lebanon confirmed a partial ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel, though reports of violations emerged shortly afterwards. While a Hezbollah lawmaker supported a full ceasefire, Netanyahu said srael would continue military operations in southern Lebanon.
  • It comes as Iran is yet to respond to a final agreement proposed by the United States aimed at ending the conflict between the two countries, with discussions on a final text continuing in Tehran on Tuesday.
  • Meanwhile, the U.S. is discussing whether to deploy nuclear weapons in additional European Nato states, the Financial Times reported.
