
- Donald Trump has claimed the war on Iran will end in “two to three weeks”, adding that peace will bring oil prices “tumbling down.”
- Trump told reporters that “Iran doesn’t have to make a deal” to end the conflict. He said he will be satisfied when Iran is "put into the Stone Age" without the ability to soon acquire a nuclear weapon.
- However, Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said that no negotiations were ongoing with Washington despite direct and indirect exchanges of messages.
- Meanwhile, missile and drone attacks continued on Wednesday morning; Kuwait said an Iranian drone attack sparked a “large fire” after fuel tanks at its international airport were hit, while a tanker was struck off the coast of Qatar.
- It comes as a UN report suggested four million people across the Gulf could be “pushed into poverty by war in Iran.” It suggested that Arab nations stand to lose between $120 billion and $194 billion as a result of disrupted energy supply chains.
