- US forces conducted "self-defense strikes" in southern Iran, targeting missile launch sites and Iranian boats, according to Central Command. Spokesman Tim Hawkins justified the attacks necessary to protect American troops.
- Donald Trump stated on Truth Social that any enriched uranium in Iran must be immediately handed over to the US or destroyed. He also called for countries including Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey to sign peace agreements with Israel to end the Iran conflict.
- It comes after Trump on Monday said on Truth Social that progress had been made on a draft agreement with Iran but that he would only accept a “great deal for all or no deal at all”.
- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that the US seeks a good agreement with Iran, otherwise it will deal with the country "another way".
- Elsewhere, oil prices rose again on Tuesday after the strikes. Prices had fallen 7 per cent on Monday – one of the sharpest single-day drops in weeks but this morning rose $1.40, or 1.5 per cent, to $97.56 a barrel.
