- Israeli troops have been deployed to southern Lebanon to boost defences against the Iranian proxy group Hezbollah in a major escalation of the war in the Middle East.

- Emirates flights have resumed from Dubai this morning, with five Airbus A380 aircraft dispatched; one is heading for Manchester and another to London Heathrow, with the other three going to Jeddah, Paris and Frankfurt.
