Iran’s Revolutionary Guards on Wednesday threatened an expansion of the conflict after new ultimatums from US President Donald Trump.
In a statement carried by the Iranian news agency Tasnim, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned that if Israel and the United States launched new attacks, “the war this time will spread beyond the region.”
The statement added that attacks would target places that least expect them.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi had already signalled readiness for further escalation on Tuesday.
"Iran is united and resolutely prepared to confront any military aggression," he wrote on X. "For us, surrender has no meaning. Either we will be victorious or we will become martyrs," he added.
On Monday, Trump said he had scheduled military strikes against Iran for Tuesday but that he called them off because "serious negotiations" to end the war are under way.
Trump then claimed on Tuesday that Iran’s leaders were “begging” to make a deal, and that the US would launch attacks in the coming days if one was not reached.
“Well, I mean, I’m saying two or three days, maybe Friday, Saturday, Sunday, something, maybe early next week, a limited period of time, because we can’t let them have a new nuclear weapon,” he said.
