Iran's government is bracing for new attacks amid continuing military tensions.

"The enemy's overt and covert movements show that it is seeking a new round of war," said Parliament Speaker Mohammed Bagher Ghalibaf in an audio message broadcast by Iranian media on Wednesday.

He explained that the armed forces had made the best possible use of the ceasefire to rebuild their capabilities.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was in Tehran for talks with Iranian government representatives for the second time this week. He met his counterpart Eskandar Momeni, according to Iranian state radio.

Naqvi was also in Iran at the start of the week. During that visit, he met Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who are leading Iran’s negotiations with the United States.

Naqvi is regarded as a close confidant of Pakistani military leader Asim Munir, who is said to maintain good contacts with US President Donald Trump.

The US and Israel launched a war against Iran at the end of February. A ceasefire has been in place since the beginning of April. Negotiations have followed, in which Pakistan has been mediating intensively.
