Kota Kinabalu: The Inland Revenue Board’s (IRB) Voluntary Declaration Programme will start from June 1 to May 31, next year.

IRB Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Dr Mohd Nizom Sairi said, the programme give taxpayers the opportunity to report income without incurring any penalty.

“As announced during the 2023 budget, this programme shows the government’s sincerity in helping the people by giving space to both individuals and businesses to come forward voluntarily.

“The privilege that will be given by the government is that taxpayers who come forward will not be subject to any increase or penalty.

“The IRB will accept each report without further inquiry and the years in which these reports are made will not be reviewed or open for audit.

“For those who have never reported or declared their income, this is an opportunity to come forward voluntarily and together carry out their responsibilities as taxpayers in an effort to develop the country,” he said at the Inland Revenue Board and Sabah State Media Appreciation Ceremony here, Thursday.

Also present were Sabah IRB Director, Datuk Hajam Lajah Alam, IRB Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Taxation Operations), Wan Ramiza Wan Ghazali and Sabah Information Department Chief Assistant Director, Peter Tong Ah Pin.
