Holidaygoers stuck in standstill traffic walk along the motorway towards Dublin Airport as fuel protests in Ireland continue.

Nationwide protests, now in their fourth day, have stemmed from soaring petrol and diesel costs attributed to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and its impact on supplies from the Strait of Hormuz.

Hauliers and agricultural contractors first began protests at various sites around Ireland on Tuesday (7 April) by starting slow-moving convoys on motorways, restricting access to Dublin’s busiest streets and blockading essential fuel depots.

Footage from Thursday (9 April) shows people hauling their luggage on the side of Dublin's M50 Northbound amid ongoing congestion.
