Newcastle United have secured the signing of another emerging talent this summer.

The Magpies are working hard on their strategy to secure the best talent from around the world for boss Eddie Howe.

While they are not afraid to spend big on signings such as Sandro Tonali, the arrival of Reece Byrne is equally important to their long term goals.

The Republic of Ireland youth international revealed his move on social media this week.

Magpies youth coach Bernard Bryne, not related to Reece, told ChronicleLive: "He's the same age as my own son, and they were just kicking it about down in the club and I was like, this kid has a nice left foot and I wondered if he played. I knew he wasn't with us, so I was just chatting to him and saying who do you play for?

"His older brother Dean is a goalkeeper as well and played with St Joseph's, and Reece was just down at the time while his brother was there. It kind of just went from there. I spoke to Reece's dad and said why don't you bring him down here?

"He was with a club at around under-8s that was nearer to his house. We'd only be about 10-15 minutes away, but the others were only about five minutes. He came down to us though, he went into under-9s and he played all the way up with us up until under-15s."
