Irmohizam is first Malaysian to be honoured with distinguished Leadership Award at EEA 2025

WORLD Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) Group Managing Director Datuk Sri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim is the first Malaysiab to have received the Distinguished Leadership Award by Exhibition Showcase during the Exhibition Excellence Awards (EEA) 2025.

The event was held on 31 May at the CIDCO Exhibition & Convention Centre in Navi Mumbai, India. Dr Irmohizam is the first Malaysian to receive this prestigious honour.

Organised by Exhibition Showcase, led by Group Editor Raghav Khosla, the EEA is widely regarded as India’s foremost industry award show for the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) and Business Events (BE) sectors.

It celebrates the achievements of individuals whose efforts often go unrecognised but play a crucial role in stimulating economic activity and supporting national initiatives.

The award was presented by Michael Kruppe, Chief Executive Officer of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), alongside other global delegates.

Recognising transformative leadership and a commitment to industry advancement, the Distinguished Leadership Award acknowledges those who inspire progress and innovation within the MICE and BE landscapes.

Dr Irmohizam, who is also on the Board of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA), has been recognised for forward-looking leadership and stead fast dedication to elevating the global standing of the BE industry.

“I am deeply honoured to receive this prestigious award as it reflects my passion and unwavering commitment to the growth and transformation of the BE industry.

“ I believe these efforts will continue to drive positive change and advocate to the advancement of the industry. I hope that in the future we can build a more resilient, innovative and inclusive ecosystem that empowers industry players to succeed and thrive in an evolving global landscape,” he said in a statement today.

His recognition at the EEA 2025 serves not only as a personal accolade but also as an affirmation of Malaysia’s growing influence in the global business events arena.

 Dr Irmohizam remains committed to positioning Malaysia as a leading hub for business events in Asia and beyond.

Other notable recipients at the ceremony included Ray Bloom (Founder and Chairman, IMEX Group), Mala Dorasamy (Chief Executive Officer, MITEC), and Adeline Vancauwelaert (Chief Operating Officer, UFI), among others.
