Rafizi Ramli wants Malaysians to believe Parti Bersama is the next big political revolution. In reality, it looks more like a political revenge project dressed up as reform. Claiming that 400 senior government officers have joined the party may sound impressive at a ceramah, but elections are not won through press statements and social media excitement.

Rafizi says Bersama wants to create opportunities for young Malaysians instead of trapping them in political rhetoric. But the irony is impossible to ignore. Bersama itself is built almost entirely on rhetoric, frustration, and anti establishment marketing. Beyond the grand speeches, Malaysians are still waiting to see a realistic roadmap grounded in political reality.

The truth is simple. Bersama is not threatening Perikatan Nasional. It is threatening Pakatan Harapan by splitting the exact same urban, middle class, and reformist votes that carried PH into Putrajaya. Political analysts are already warning that Rafizi’s move could become the biggest gift to the opposition.

Every seat Bersama contests against PH increases the possibility of handing victories to conservative forces through straight vote splitting. Rafizi may pretend this is about principles, but many Malaysians are beginning to suspect that bruised political ego is playing a far bigger role than genuine reform.

Then comes Bersama’s manifesto. On the surface, it sounds polished and ambitious. But once experts started examining the details, the cracks became obvious. Several proposals have already been criticised as unrealistic fantasies disconnected from the economic realities of governing a country.

You cannot promise a super welfare systems, ambitious healthcare targets, and massive social protections while simultaneously limiting labour flexibility and reducing dependence on foreign workers without explaining where the money, manpower, and economic growth will come from. This is not policy seriousness. This is fantasy politics.

Rafizi also speaks proudly about Bersama becoming a “third force” that contests independently. That may sound romantic to hardcore supporters, but Malaysia’s political reality does not work that way. Our system survives on coalitions, negotiations, and political compromise. No small standalone party can realistically capture federal power alone.

Which exposes the contradiction perfectly. Bersama attacks coalition politics today while fully knowing that if it survives long enough, it will eventually be forced into the exact same compromises it currently condemns. That is not political courage. That is political theatre.

Most damaging of all, Bersama lacks the one thing every serious political party needs. Machinery. Social media engagement is not grassroots strength. Viral clips are not votes. Elections are won through local networks, polling agents, branch structures, and disciplined ground operations. Outside Rafizi’s personal circle, Bersama still looks dangerously hollow. In Malaysian politics, hollow parties do not become kingmakers. They become spoilers.
