- Ann Widdecombe, 78, was found dead at her Dartmoor home, with police believing she was attacked around 12.30pm on Wednesday.
- The text exchange from at least 12.14pm between a producer on Channel 5's Matt Allwright show showed the pair were regularly talking and joking about the former MP and MEP’s remote appearance on the programme and whether she received a Zoom meeting link.
- She stopped responding to text messages shortly after 12.19pm, with the producer messaging “Hi Ann is everything okay?” and called her multiple times but went without answer; Allwright said on his show at 1.27pm that Ms Widdecombe was supposed to appear as a guest but had not turned up.
- A 28-year-old British national has been arrested in South Yorkshire on suspicion of her murder and is currently in police custody; police have stated there is no information to suggest the murder was related to terrorism or had a political motive.
- An earlier arrest of a 26-year-old man was made, but he has since been released and is no longer part of the investigation.
