After two successful seasons on Netflix, Hellbound left fans wondering whether a third season will ever happen. Here’s everything we know about a probable season 3 of the Netflix K-drama Hellbound and the possible release date.

One of the best webtoon-based K-dramas, Hellbound is directed by Yeon Sang-ho. It is based on the 2019 horror webtoon Jiok written by Yeon and illustrated by Choi Kyu-seok. The latter also contributed to the screenplay of the Netflix series.

Spoilers ahead!

Throughout the first five episodes of Hellbound season 2, viewers saw protagonist Jin-su (played by Kim Sung-cheol) finding the true purpose of his resurrection while trying to get rid of the monsters inside his head. In the season 2 ending, Jin-su, desperate to know the answer, met another resurrected individual Park Jung-ja (played by Kim Shin-rok). When asked if she too was troubled by the monsters, Jung-ja revealed that she wasn’t, because Jung-ha wasn’t a coward like Jin-su. The latter lived in fear of dying for twenty years, and even after the resurrection, never found his purpose. Eventually, Jin-su consumed by the monster inside him, transformed into an executioner and vanished into thin air.

Elsewhere, Hye-jin (played by Kim Hyun-joo) dissolved the Sodo organisation and left with Jae-hyeon (played by Oh Eun-seo) to start afresh. The Korean drama ended with a mass decree with thousands of humans getting a predestined time of death. Among them was Secretary Lee, who received a decree that she would die in two years at 7:00 am.

As of now, there is no official information from the makers and Netflix about Hellbound season 3 being in the works.

While fans are excited to watch more of the Netflix original series, season 2 tied most loose ends. Hye-jin and Jae-hyeon left to start a new life. Park Jung-ja reunited with her children. The New Truth, Sodo, and Arrowhead dissolved. Jin-su became an executioner of Hell.

Additionally, Hellbound season 2 doesn’t include an end-credit scene like its previous season, further lessening the possibilities of a season 3. However, fans are hopeful that makers could announce a third instalment to show the truth of Jae-hyeon’s decree and immediate resurrection.

What could be the possible release date of Hellbound season 3 on Netflix?

While there is no official confirmation about season 3 yet, going by the release patterns of the franchise’s previous seasons, viewers could expect a premiere date in the second half of 2027.

Hellbound seasons 1 and 2 are now available to stream on Netflix.
