Former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin who recently failed in his attempt to get his passport returned to him permanently through the court, has launched a blistering attack on PM Anwar’s unity government!

In a recent post on his Facebook page, the Perikatan Nasional chairman claimed that the experiment to bring together a motley crew of parties with different ideologies to form a so-called “unity government” seems to have fallen flat on its face.

Taking aim at DAP, he pointed out that the former opposition party which is the biggest in the current government actually embraced leftist ideology and apparently doesn’t recognise the existence of bumiputera (indigenous) communities in the country.

Furthermore, he stressed the party’s Malaysian Malaysia dream goes against the spirit of Article 153 of the country’s Constitution which recognizes the special position of the Malays and other indigenous communities; he lamented that for DAP everyone should be treated equally.

He also touched on the fall from grace of his ex-party Umno which is now reduced to a small component party in the current ruling coalition, adding that its struggle runs counter to that of DAP, as such, he asked mockingly, how can it be called a “unity” government?

Furthermore, according to the Pagoh MP, they are always arguing and there appears to be no solidarity at all, seemingly always at odds with each other over policies on bumiputera Malay economy, local council elections, Islamic laws and others.

He added that as a result of all that the government has become unstable and doesn't appear to have a clear direction in addressing the economy of the country and the wellbeing of the people; moreover according to him, with all the ideological and other internal differences amongst the parties in the coalition, it has now become dysfunctional and virtually “blind.”

Besides, Muhyiddin also claimed not only are they clueless in governing the country properly, they have also now started to go after political victims so as to turn the attention away from their own incompetencies and shortcomings.

Meanwhile, as for PM Anwar’s talk of institutional reforms, he pointed out that contrary to all the hype, they have now started to openly misuse government institutions and have also resorted to selective prosecution of their political foes; in fact, according to him, they have even imposed restrictions on freedom of speech and threatened democracy in the country - hoping to cling on to power forever!

Finally, without mincing words he called on the people not to remain idle watching the current hopeless and failed government but instead to brace themselves for “change” in 2024.

For the record, the Bersatu president still has another three more outstanding money laundering cases involving RM200mil to answer relating to the controversial Jana Wibawa case, in which his own son-in-law, who is believed to be no longer in the country, is also implicated.

Meanwhile, more recently, the Star had quoted the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki as saying that a “former prime minister” and his aides will be called soon to explain how an allocation of RM700mil for government promotions and publicity was spent during his administration between the year 2020 to 2022. It looks like - with or without his passport - Muhyiddin will have a packed itinerary this year!
