There are some things that we’re used to seeing in other country’s cultures or movies.

But, what if those cultures suddenly show up in Malaysia?

Netizen, Shukri Vlogs, took to his TikTok account to showcase a pickup truck driving somewhere in Malaysia, with about a dozen people sitting and standing at the back.

He wrote, “Normally seen in Indian movies, this is a reality in Malaysia. A dozen of them in the back of the Hilux (a term used by Malaysians to describe all pickup trucks).”

In the video, a group of about a dozen people, believed to be foreigners, could be seen sitting (and standing, because there was not enough space for all of them to sit) in the back of a pickup truck.

While many took to the post to point out that pickup truck drivers tend to give such rides to foreigners upon seeing them walking to and from mosques for prayers, others called out the authorities for not taking action against this as it can not only cause danger to the foreigners but also to other road users.

“There are days when a pickup truck brother will give them rides to the mosque, for Friday prayers. This is because he pities them for walking.”

“I saw other videos before this, a local gives foreigners rides to go for Friday prayers, it’s far for them to walk.”

“I wouldn’t even dare to sit at the back alone, not because I’m scared but because I respect the law. But they can buy off the law.”
