In recent news, a girl took to Threads, the social media platform to share an unusual experience she had with her boyfriend’s mother - something that sparked a huge debate online.
The post mentions, that the mother believes giving a small portion of her (the girlfriend) salary, around RM50-100 each time, would grant the young woman “blessings” on her earnings.
In the screenshot of the conversation shared, the mother says, “when you receive your salary, does it not cross your mind to give me at least RM50-100 so that your earnings could be blessed?”
Completely taken aback by this, she asks on Threads, to her friends and followers if this is not an odd behaviour.

In the thread, the girl also mentions that the mother has asked of the same thing towards the son’s friends too.
Since she isn't married to the boyfriend yet, the user expressed her uncertainty online and questioned as to whether this was an acceptable expectation.
