THE Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM) will cooperate with relevant authorities to ensure that the programme known as “Glamping With Pride” does not go ahead, according to the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department for Religious Affairs, Dr Zulkifli Hasan.
He said investigations into the programme had also been handed over to the police.
“JAKIM will cooperate with any authority to monitor and ensure that they (the organisers) do not proceed with that intention,” he told reporters after delivering a New Year address earlier today.
“The Selangor Islamic Religious Department will take follow-up action together with the police,” he added.
Earlier, JAKIM said authorities were closely monitoring the organisation of “Glamping With Pride” and would not compromise on any effort or approach aimed at normalising what it described as deviant sexual practices.
Its director-general, Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee, said such acts were also contrary to existing laws, including Section 25 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Federal Territories) Act 1997, as well as Sections 377A, 377B, 377C and 377D of the Penal Code, which provide for offences related to carnal intercourse against the order of nature.
So far, police have received five reports concerning advertisements for the programme, which was scheduled to take place on 17 and 18 January in Hulu Langat, Selangor. - January 13, 2026
