An Austrian court sentenced a 21-year-old Islamist on Thursday to 15 years in prison over a foiled plot to attack a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna in 2024.
He was also found guilty of forming a terror cell, which was factored into the sentence.
The main defendant, identified only as Beran A in line with Austrian privacy laws, is an Austrian with North Macedonian roots.
He admitted planning an attack in August 2024 at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium, the venue for the US pop mega star's three performances during her "Eras" Tour.
Prosecutors say he intended to carry out a jihadist-inspired massacre of Swift fans using knives and a bomb.
He was arrested a day before the first concert following a tip-off from a foreign intelligence service. All three concerts were subsequently cancelled.
