PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob says the Umno Supreme Council meeting on Saturday went well without any issues.

“There was nothing (no issues). We had discussions, it was a friendly atmosphere. There were no issues,” he told reporters after a briefing for civil servants here.

That meeting came hours after a tense gathering of Umno leaders in support of former prime minister Najib Razak who was jailed last week after the Federal Court upheld his SRC International conviction.

At some point during the gathering, boos could be heard after Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi referenced the prime minister in his speech.

Ismail, an Umno vice-president, also denied claims of a split in Umno and that he was facing the sack from his party.

“Sometimes what people on the outside perceive is different from what is actually happening. There are no issues in Umno,” he said.
