Israel accused of war crimes after killing Lebanese journalist in ‘targeted’ strike

  • Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil, working for Al-Akhbar, was killed in an Israeli air strike in Al-Tayri village, southern Lebanon, on Wednesday.
  • Officials said that Ms Khalil was targeted while seeking shelter from an initial strike and was left under rubble for over seven hours without medical care due to Israeli obstruction.
  • The Lebanese health ministry reported that Israeli forces fired a stun grenade and shot at a Red Cross ambulance attempting to retrieve the wounded.
  • Lebanon's Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the attack, accusing Israel of “war crimes” and an “established approach” of targeting journalists.
  • The Israeli military said that it struck vehicles and a Hezbollah-used structure posing an “immediate threat”, denying it targets journalists or obstructs rescue efforts, adding the incident is under review.
