  • Israel has warned that Iran's attempted missile strike on the UK-US Diego Garcia military base demonstrates Tehran's capability to reach European cities, including London, Paris, and Berlin.
  • Two ballistic missiles were launched towards Diego Garcia, approximately 3,800km from Iran; one was intercepted by a US warship, and the other failed in flight.
  • The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said this was Iran's first long-range missile launch since the war began, claiming the missiles have a range of around 4,000km, posing a danger to numerous countries across Europe, Asia, and Africa.
  • Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper condemned Iran's “reckless threats” as the UK government granted US permission to use British bases to hit Iranian missile sites targeting the Strait of Hormuz.
  • Experts, including Gen Sir Richard Barrons, have revised their assessment of Iran's offensive capabilities, acknowledging that its missiles can now hit targets much farther away than previously believed.
