JERUSALEM, July 24 — Israel’s President Isaac Herzog said today that there was a basis for compromise on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s judicial overhaul plan but that gaps remained between the governing coalition and opposition parties.
“We are in the midst of a national emergency. This is a time for responsibility. We are working around the clock, in every way, to find a solution,” Herzog said in a statement shortly before parliament was to start voting on a controversial judicial bill. — Reuters
