
The Israeli military said on Saturday that it struck 85 targets belonging to the Hezbollah militia in Lebanon within a 24-hour period.
These included weapons depots, launch pads and other military infrastructure. The military justified the operation as a response to threats against Israeli civilians and soldiers in southern Lebanon.
Officials further reported that an underground facility in the Bekaa Valley, allegedly used by Hezbollah to manufacture weapons, had been destroyed.
Israeli forces also attacked fighters from the Hezbollah militia in southern Lebanon, they said.
According to Lebanon's Health Ministry, at least seven people were killed and another 15 injured in an airstrike on the southern town of Saksakiyeh in the Sidon district.
Israel's military accuses Hezbollah of having fired several rockets at soldiers in southern Lebanon in recent days. In addition, an explosive drone fired by Hezbollah was reportedly discovered near the Israeli-Lebanese border. There were no reports of injuries or property damage.
The information could not immediately be independently verified.
The Hezbollah rocket fire was preceded by an Israeli attack in the southern suburbs of Beirut, in which the commander of the Hezbollah elite unit Radwan was killed.
The current ceasefire agreement allows Israel to take defensive measures against planned, imminent or ongoing attacks, but prohibits offensive operations on Lebanese territory.
The parties to the conflict accuse each other of violating this agreement.
