Sadly, the fact of the matter is that Israel created the circumstances that led to the creation of a terrorist organisation like Hamas and of course, others.
As soon as the Israeli Government recognises this, then addresses the requirement for an effective Palestinian "Hearts and Minds" campaign, the sooner peace might actually be viable. Yitzhak Rabin got close, but ultimately paid with his life for his efforts.
Radicalism on both sides has virtually destroyed a 2-state solution. It is time for change and honest humanity.
I hear and read references to the Holocaust as a justification. What a shocking exploitation of the Holocaust victims. When I was a young officer in the British Army in the early 80's I took all my soldiers to the concentration camp of Belsen, Bergen-Hohne in N.Germany. Man's inhumanity to Man. So what about the genocide of the Palestinians and the forced expulsion of 700,000 Muslim and Christian Palestinian Arabs in 1948, or the continuing forced armed internationally recognised illegal takeover of Palestinian homes in the West Bank by Israeli settlers? Oh and let's not forget Gaza; an open prison, no, concentration camp of 2.2 million Palestinians. Has the Jewish Community forgotten their own suffering under extreme oppression? The Warsaw ghettos and the armed resistance there?
A fundamental question is why does a people who for centuries, have suffered persecution from the time of the Magna Carta, the Tudors, the Russian Polgrums, to The Holocaust, treat The Palestinians in such an appalling way? Surely, the Jewish community, of all people, would understand the consequences of persecution?
The film “Israelism” is fascinating. It looks at the long-established narrative regarding the State of Israel, which an increased number of the International Jewish Community are now starting to question. The film was actually released before the 7th October attacks.
