The Israeli military late on Wednesday said it had struck two senior Hamas members in the northern Gaza Strip.

Israeli media reported that the two were commanders in the Palestinian organization. There was initially no confirmation from Palestinian sources.

The Hamas-controlled health authority said at least five people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a house in Gaza City. Paramedics said 15 others were injured.

Previously, the Israeli military said it had killed Mohammed Odeh, the newly appointed Hamas military leader in the Gaza Strip, in a Tuesday attack. Hamas confirmed Odeh's death, as well as the deaths of members of his family.

A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has formally been in place since October 2025, although both sides have repeatedly accused each other of violating the agreement.
